What do you think about the new proposal to allow mobile phones to be used on European flights? I think it's bad enough sitting on a bus or train listening to some plonker waffle on for ages about nothing important, what are your thoughts?
Mobile phones to be allowed on planes?
With you on that one, why do people need to be in touch with everyone twenty four hours a day, seven days a week....
Reply:I feel that its a huge risk to security
Reply:i agree with you, whatever happened to private time without the inteference of others, let alone imposing it on the surrounding environment
Reply:I think they should be allowed on planes, but only for a certain amount of time.
When i turn my phone on it gives you an option of wheather to put it on flight mode or normal mode.
so if people put their phones on flight mode the phone would turn of a while later.
Reply:Bad idea, agree with other users answers...........thought it affects equipment..
Reply:I think they should only be used for half an hour before landing so you can inform those who are meeting you, your arrival time. Maybe when the sign when to put your safety belts on is displayed. Otherwise NO.NO. I don`t want to be sat next to some nerd constantly talking into his mobile. Long distance travel many people prefer to sleep, I think this in an intrusion into peoples comfort.
Reply:Its just another excuse for the mobile companys to charge £1 per minute if you use your mobile on the plane
Reply:Oh you just know the person next to you will be rabbiting on to there relatives all flight.Does my head in,its nice to have peace and quite on a flight.
Reply:All my mobile phones have refused to work every time i walk near a tree so i find it highly unlikely that i will be able successfully ring somebody 35,000 ft above the earth
Reply:I have a problem with all of the above lol, security, conversations all around me, ringtones, games aaaaaaaaaaaaaa
have you seen the LG Viewty actually has an option to press when using phones on planes?
Reply:Ive got no issue with security or anything. but like you said. I dont want some plonker talking on their phone constantly.
Reply:Yet until there is a major air disaster, then they will blame it on mobile phones.
Reply:Yes, just today it has been anounced by the CAA that planes will be allowed to have mobiles in European airspace.
but remember mobile phones need cells to work in and these do not exist in the middle of the atlantic etc. so the plane company will make a cell and transmit the signal, so your going to have to roam and I am sure you will end up paying a lot of money for the privlage
Reply:I agree with you, its bad enough that literally as soon as you land half the plane switch on their phones - cue the beeps of the service messages welcoming you to spain or wherever you are! aaaarrrrggggghhh, you're on holiday, leave it!
Reply:Yes...the airlines who continue to ban them will have my business.
Reply:I agree. I think they should be banned completely on flights. I have been able to use a phone in business class but it was expensive, but to allow everyone to use phones is an intrusion to everyone on the plane who wants to relax.
Reply:it interferes with there machinery doesn't it?
that's why your asked to turn them off during a flight...
Reply:great for terrorists to trigger a bomb in the hold.
Reply:no phones on any public transport until people can learn how to use them and not annoy half the bloody plane/train/bus. the stupidest idea ever award has a candidate
Reply:Very bad idea, for two reasons. one I can't stand listening to another persons conversation about the mundane, and two it might offset other electronic equipment or at worst be used to self detonate a package in the cargo hold.
