Is it possible to call a mobile phone using internet and sending a mobile number as caller?

This morning when I was fast asleep my boss called me at 5 AM and asked why I had called him. It was a horrible surprise as I saw the last dialled number on my mobile phone and it was indeed my boss's. So, kindly tell me if it is possible for anyone using internet or otherwise to call a mobile number and send any mobile number as caller? I know there are sites which offer such services for SMS and it can be done easily. Please help me to solve this riddle as it might cost me my job. For your information, I had my boss's mobile number on my 'speed dialing list' with '8' as the shortcut, which is on the lower side and calling button is on upper left corner, which makes it quite unlikely that specific keys got pressed under my shoulder or head as my mobile was placed on the bed near my head. I am using CDMA technology while my boss's mobile is of GSM tech. Thanking you in advance. Its urgent !!!!!!!!!!

The caller id and sms functions are different.. for example, one can send a sms (text) message using the internet or their phone, but the origination of the call can only be indicated by/from the calling number. That is not to say, however, that these systems are never hacked (i'm pretty sure they are). It seems more likely that you accidentally hit the wrong number, but if your boss is receiving a high number of strange phone calls he may want to talk to his wireless provider.
Reply:If the "Last Number Dialed" on YOUR phone in YOUR home on YOUR bed was your bosses number. It didn't come from an internet call. Or anywhere else for that matter. It came from YOUR phone. A bad dream perhaps? Talk to your boss and simply say, "I'm sorry, I have no idea how it happened". Ask him if he heard anything on his end, other than you sleeping.

Also please don't put your charging phone in your bed with you. Here is just one of many stories about a cell phone that catches fire %26amp; explodes while charging. http://www.kktv.com/unclassified/1314117...
