Mobile phone tracking?

can a mobile phone be traced or tracked on a pay as you go? how can somebody track a mobile call or trace a mobile phonecall does the phone have to be switched on and in use for this to be able to be done and can anybody do it or is it just the police?

Mobile phone tracking?
the police/government can track a mobile signal as long as the phone is switched on, does not need to be in use this information is often used in courts to prove suspect was in the area when a crime was committed has also been used to track missing persons.

The AA/RAC use it to find motorist who dont know where they are, it is done with the assistance of the networks use the same technology that is used to find the strongest signal.

If the police know your mobile no and your phone is switched on they can find you.

Try buying a sim card from a reputable source without giving ID, impossible.
Reply:Pay as you go can be tracked by triangualtion. The transmitters can pinpoint its location whether in use or idle. However, you will not know who has the pay as you go phone.
Reply:why you stolen one?best return it if you have.they can be traced when the battery is out too..best give it back and you won't have your door kicked in by the police
Reply:all cell phones sold in the us now have a gps chip that can be traced by any 911 center. some also may be traced by the owner or others.
Reply:here's a link to them on ebay
Reply:The location can be traced. Dump the "hot" phone you stole from someone and go buy one.
